About the Network
The
Network was formed over 18 months ago as a social, networking club for Heads
of IT (or equivalent). The co-founders were Roger Ellis and Julie Loveday, both
who have had a long association with the industry (see the section on the founders).
More recently the Network has been pleased to announce that Lord Renwick has
been appointed as Honorary President. Harry Renwick is already well known to
many as the President of EURIM, the Parliamentary/ Industry group.
The Network is built on five key principles, which differentiates it from other groups or organisations serving the IT industry.
No fees
There are no joining or annual fees to belong to the Network. The only charge we make is that naturally we ask members to contribute to the cost of the drinks bill for the evening if they attend.
Open to current and former Heads of IT
The Network is open to current and former Heads of IT (or equivalent). Whilst membership is by invitation, the only qualification is that you currently run, or have run, the IT for a company or organisation. We also very much encourage former IT Directors to attend, many of whom are "between jobs". Frequently it is all too common that after leaving a senior position, invitations to attend networking clubs seem to dry up - or the fees are prohibitive. We firmly believe such individuals offer much to the industry and the mix of former and current seems to work very well.
No suppliers
Suppliers and service providers are specifically excluded from membership and are not invited. Whilst certainly these companies contribute much and offer a valuable service, this particular club is not for them. You can therefore rest assured when attending that you are in a sales free zone.
No speakers
The social meetings are just that - an opportunity to unwind and mix with your peers. There are no formal proceedings, no speakers, no scheduled debates - although plenty of informal ones!
Specialist contacts
The Network, from time to time, will invite certain individuals to become associated with us who don't meet the normal criteria. This is because we believe their knowledge or expertise may prove of use to the members. Other than Lord Renwick who has many contacts and experience within the political arena, we have to date made two such appointments. One is our leading, friendly head-hunter, Stephanie Twigg, who attends many meetings and is on hand to offer advice and guidance. The other is Irene Nathan, who is a leading Image Consultant. Further details regarding both Stephanie and Irene can be found in the Members Section.
